UMKC将有220张票供预定。门票对UMKC的学生和教职工免费，对其他任何一方以及家属将收取$8门票费。所以请用您的umkc邮件地址预定，我们也 将同时在门口进行2次核实，所以请务必带上您打印的confirmation以及学生证/教职工证。以上所有程序必须严格执行以保证活动的有序开展，如有 不便，尽情谅解!

The outcome of our petition on ISAO $200 international student fee
ISAO planed to charge us one-time $200 international students fee as we all know that.
Due to our effort on the petition lead by UMKCCSSA & Indian Student Association and meeting between the vice chancellor and various international student associations including UMKCCSSA, ISAO agreed to decrease the fee to $165, which will be charged in your tuition & fees.
Here is the letter from the Vice Chancellor:
Dear International Student Leaders:
In response to your concerns about the new international student service fee, let me first say that I believe the decision could have been communicated in a better manner originally. This may have alleviated some of your concerns.
The fee was implemented to ensure that the university, through the International Student Affairs Office, maintains compliance with many federal regulations relating to international students and scholars. If they are not adhered to, the penalty would be UMKC’s loss of Department of Homeland Security/USCIS approval to bring new international students to our campus. It would also affect the status of a large number of currently enrolled students. Attached to this memo is a list of duties with federal regulatory issues that ISAO must fulfill on behalf of international students and the university.
After reviewing all pertinent data, and taking into account the concerns you expressed, the final decision that will be implemented is as follows:
· Beginning Fall 2009, all new international students with F and J visas entering Summer 2009 or later will pay the one-time International Student Service fee of $200.00.
· Beginning Fall 2009, all continuing (currently enrolled) international students with F and J visas will pay a one-time $165.00 international student services fee. (This fee is discounted for the $35.00 orientation fee many have already paid.)
Because we value international students and the diversity and perspective they bring to UMKC, the university makes a substantial investment in international students each year. Through our generous scholarship programs, which exceed those offered by most US universities, 75% of UMKC international students receive a scholarship equivalent to non-resident fees, representing a substantial savings in the cost of education. We are committed to this investment in you and your education through these scholarships, which are far more generous than those offered by most universities in the country.
I hope you can accept the difficult position in which the university finds itself and wish each of you the best as you continue your education at UMKC.

CSSA Announcement to New UMKC Chinese Students Seeking Airport Pick-up Service
CSSA will try its very best to arrange a pickup for you from MCI airport. You may choose a way of your pick-up from options below.
1. Pick-up can be arranged through a local Chinese Christian community (CCF), and it is normally free.
2. If you were to choose to be picked up by a UMKCCSSA volunteer, a $20 gas compensation will be paid to the volunteer, as well as any parking fee if occurs. (The charge is subject to change due to fluctuation in gasoline price).

They will tell you to contact a group called Culture discover—an American church, they will also pick you up for free.
Important Notice: In the past, we have found new students contacting several groups to request for pick-up service. We understand your anxiousness; however, keep in mind CSSA’s heavy work load due to the increasing number of the in-coming class, in order to avoid unnecessary trips, please notify CSSA your cancellation of our service BEFORE leaving China. Do confirm with us your pick-up arrangement within 24 hours of your departure.

We will appreciate it very much if you can provide pickup service for the new students. You will be compensated $20 for gasoline as well as privileges to CSSA organized events and discount promotions with at local merchants. (Important Notice: The driver should have his or her own car insurance and medical insurance. CSSA has no responsibility for accident).

From terminal C, any red bus can take you to the Max station for free, then take max bus I29(129) to downtown max center 12th, and then transfer to 25 bus to UMKC.
